Friday's Nasdaq bounce recovered almost none of Thursday's crash.

The index rose 1.09% to 24,579.42, after sinking about 5.5% the day before.

Wall Street finished mixed. The S&P 500 gained 0.32% to 7,376.86 while the Dow slipped 0.46% to 51,285.73, per JournalArta Markets. The VIX eased 9.55% to 25.49, but the Nasdaq is still down about 10.75% over the past month. One green day after a correction does not erase the damage.

The October jobs report was the other big print. Employers added 165,000 jobs, well above the 59,000 forecast, and unemployment fell to 4.1%, per CNBC and the Bureau of Labor Statistics. CME FedWatch odds of a December rate hike moved back toward the mid-to-high 70s after the release, per CNBC. Crypto stayed soft into the weekend, with Bitcoin near $75,800.

US equities are closed until Monday. Crypto keeps trading. A quick weekend checklist:

  • Don't treat Friday's bounce as proof the selloff is over. Measure it against Thursday's drop, not against zero.
  • Size for Monday's open while you're calm, not after the first gap.
  • Know which of your names report next week, starting with Constellation Energy on Monday.
  • If you trade crypto over the weekend, cut leverage. Thin books exaggerate every move.
